Letter confirming changes to an employment contract

What is a letter confirming changes to an employment contract and when should you use it?

Changing or varying the terms and conditions of a contract of employment can only be done with the agreement of the employee.

You cannot do it unilaterally.

If you do, you are leaving yourself open to a successful claim.

You should use this letter when you want to make changes to an employee’s contract of employment and you want to ensure that the employee is aware of the changes and consents to the changes being made.

The best way to ensure that the employee is consenting is to have them agree to the proposed change(s) in writing.
